Fair Trade Association Germany

Monitoring Dialogue – May 21, 2016

External Feedback on FAIR & GLOBAL

As part of the Fair Trade monitoring process, we participated in a public dialogue in 2016 in Bingen am Rhein – including questions from the panel and open discussion with the audience.

Monitoring Dialogue Fair and Global

Purpose of the Dialogue

During the monitoring dialogue, we presented FAIR & GLOBAL in detail and explained how we implement the WFTO principles in practice.

This was followed by an open discussion with questions from both the panel and the audience. Feedback like this is essential for us, because trust is built through transparency – not just claims.

Summary of the Panel

The report describes FAIR & GLOBAL as an e-commerce company selling fair trade and organic clothing with a hippie and festival style directly online – without intermediaries.

According to the report, our designs are developed in Germany and produced in Thailand with ThaiCraft and in Nepal with Shuja Traders.

It was particularly highlighted that we regularly travel to our producers to personally verify working conditions.

Production in Thailand and Nepal

The monitoring report notes that in Thailand, production takes place in a small workshop run by around 15 women, alongside agricultural activities. The fabrics are sourced from a regional weaving mill and are Oeko-Tex certified.

In Nepal, production takes place at Shuja Traders, where GOTS-certified organic cotton from India is used. Shuja is a member of the Fair Trade Group Nepal.

This reflects exactly what matters to us: fair production, transparent sourcing and real relationships with our partners.
